In The City Of The Damned, The Watch Still Patrols

Or, in other words, I finished the Rune Priest, am still out of Fenris / Russ Grey, and so I turned my attention to my old Mordheim City Watch warband that I built (and played some games with) about 22 or so years ago. I still remember my leader, the Watch Captain, gaining a Head Injury in his first game and spending the next few games either Stupid or Frenzied and in either case basically uncontrollable!

I really like the psyber-raven, even if the blue wash I gave it doesn't really come out in the photos

The staff head is a conversion, as the original was missing when I got him

I very nearly missed the purity seal ribbons when I was painting him, so I made sure to take this angle to show them off

Even with the wolf's head power pack and the wolfskin and skull and tail, he seems less wolfy than some more modern Space Wolves...

With that brief foray into the 41st Millenium over, I turned my attention to the City Watch. The bulk of this warband was painted a long time ago in a very different style to my more current painting practices, so it was a bit of a challenge to finish these fellows off - luckily the bulk of the work had already been done:

A henchmen group in some really shiny gear for a Mordheim warband! But they are the City Watch, and so they are equipped appropriately

Why, when they're from Ostermark, are their uniforms red and not purple? Well, purple dye is expensive and hard to make, so red or blue are actually much more common as an alternative

These are made from the 5th Edition Perry-sculpted Empire State Troops plastic box

The shields carry the city heraldry of Mordheim, the raven

Actually, this is why they're red and yellow - I used the colour plate from the 5th Edition Warhammer Armies: The Empire and that, as you can see, shows Ostermarkers wearing red and yellow, not the purple and yellow of later editions...

 Tomorrow I'm going to finish the last couple of figures for the City Watch and maybe work on a mercenary Ogre for them, too.
