Transfers Are A Pain

Well, not always. It's mostly trying to apply the damn things to Space Marine shoulder pads, which are curved in all the wrong ways to get a flat thing to sit properly. No, I don't have Micro-Sol or Micro-Set - I make do with gloss varnish and matt varnish. I should probably invest in the Micro-stuff.

On the other hand, the end result is worth it. The Raptor emblem is nice and simple, but trying to hand-paint it on would very quickly drive me more mad than I already am.

All these Marines are from the 5th (Battle) Company of the Chapter, denoted by a '5' on their left kneepad. The squad numbering isn't consistent with Codex application, mainly to confuse enemy intelligence efforts. On the other hand, Marines being Marines, even the ever-sensible Raptors can't resist flouting their Chapter insignia. I suppose wearing nigh-invulnerable powered armour suits that can protect you against anything short of a dedicated anti-armour system gives you a bit less need for tactical colours.

Again, I'm not counting these for Painting Points purposes. I'm part-way through the rebadging process on another 18 Marines (a Librarian, a Chaplain, a Techmarine, 5 Aggressors and 10 Hellblasters) but they'll have to wait until Sunday probably as I'm off to visit friends tomorrow and go to a LARP on Saturday.
