Catching Up

I spent the last three days (and this morning) pet-sitting for my friends T and O, who had gone to a wedding in London. It was a nice little adventure and their dog is absolutely adorable, plus their very shy cat warmed up enough to me to wake me up this morning by licking my face, which is a first for me. However it wasn't all fussing pets and walking dogs - I used the time to finish not only the 1987 Clanrats and the 1992 Grey Seer, but the much more modern Jezzail teams recently released for Age of Sigmar and which fit perfectly onto the cavalry bases that they need for Warhammer Fantasy:

Having painted them, I noticed the big mould lines on the bare heads. D'oh

A very small palette but it works to create a rag-tag appearance that still seems uniform

The rusty blades are great for unifying the whole army

I think it's a neat detail that they've got little tail rings!

Two ranks of 1980s Clanrats! I really want to get some more to bulk this lot up to 20, but next time I'll be making sure I get rid of those mould lines...

A Grey Seer from 1992! A baby, a stripling even, next to the 1980s minis. I really like the way the horns came out

For such a simple model there's a lot of really nice little details and the staff in particular painted up very nicely indeed

The shooty end - Clan Skryre's best-superb quality long-arms. Looking at this I have just realised I failed to paint the optics on the jezzail on the left. Arrrgh!

The little teams are great, but I think in retrospect I prefer the earlier more musket-like Jezzails

Regardless, they do the job and look great all painted up

The ammunition hoppers? Not entirely sure how the shot gets from the backpack contraptions into the Jezzails, but - whatever - this is fantasy after all

Out of all 17 of those minis only the Jezzail teams are actually part of my 2,000 point army, so when I got home today after taking photos I undercoated a block of 20 Clanrats with spears which very much are part of the army. After those are done there's just another Warpfire Thrower team and a unit of 20 Clanrats with hand weapons to do and I can move onto something else - probably some Clan Jade Falcon battlemechs!
